I had the opportunity to explore a lot of really amazing places in Manitoba this summer but one of my favourites was wild canoe camping in Nopiming Provincial Park. It's a raw, and ancient place, canoeing through it made me feel so close to nature and so far from civilization. Traveling by canoe through the backcountry is a challenging but rewarding experience. Twin River travel ran this trip, taking care of everything from guiding to supplies to food. They did an incredible job and you should go check them out.
This was a creatively focused trip that I helped run with From Here & Away. Going into the wilderness to make art is a really incredible experience and it holds a special place in my heart for sure. We will be running plenty of trips like this next summer so keep a look out for that if you love nature and want to use photography or other mediums to capture it.
Anyways, I hope these photos show you a little bit of what I saw out there. In three days I saw a Snapping Turtle, a Bald Eagle, Loons, and all sorts of other critters I didn't get a chance to capture in photos. This is just a little bit of the experience, I hope you like it.
