Yes We Mystic is forever experimenting and incorporating new elements into their work, making it bigger than anything we'd expect from a traditional band. The Earthly Paradise was their most ambitious take on that to date, blurring the lines between theatre, dance and music. It was an incredible night and I had the privilege of documenting it.Read More
One of my favourite experiences of the summer was wild canoe camping in Nopiming Provincial Park. It's a raw, ancient and beautiful place. Twin River travel ran this trip, they did an incredible job and you should go check them out. This was a creatively focused trip that I helped run with From Here & Away. Going into the wilderness to make art is a really incredible experience and it holds a special place in my heart for sure. In three days I saw a Snapping Turtle, a Bald Eagle, Loons, and all sorts of other critters I didn't get a chance to capture in photos. This is just a little bit of the experience, I hope you like it.Read More
This is a set I'm really happy with. I tried working with prisms, freelensing and other new techniques and I really love the ethereal mood they create. The light in this space was to die for and Hannah was so fun to work with. I want to do more work like this, making wonderful people look wonderful is my favourite.
It's the end of 2016. I like this blog, but I think it's time for it to end. Starting in June I set out to take and post 20 pictures here, twice a month. It was a task that I found daunting when I started
Admittedly, This project fell off as my priorities and projects changed. I've been chipping away at some really big personal goals and doing more client work. All that lead to me not having that much work that I felt happy with posting here. I've learnt that I really want to use photography to tell stories so the prospect of posting a handful of unrelated pictures has become something I'm less and less interested in as 2016 drew on.
I wanted to make one final post here before the end of this incredibly transformative year. I will continue to post sets of photos on here to show you what I've been up to but have no set out schedule or number of posts I'm going to force myself to make.
Here are 12 portraits I took of one of my oldest friends on boxing day. I really love these, I hope you do too.
2017 is going to be a big year. I'm planning things that are really exciting and hoping to create things that have a lot of meaning to me. I really can't wait to see them through and to share them with you.
Ok, talk soon. Happy new year.
These are film photos. I like them a lot. I developed them myself in Mackenzie's closet.
This is a new medium for me and slowing down with each shot has taught me a lot about photography as a craft.
I have a lot to learn here and to be honest I still am not super happy with the way a lot of these shots scanned in. But what's more important to me at this point is to finally show this work. I'm more concerned with telling a story and showing emotion rather than perfection.
So with that in mind, I hope you like these.
